XFL fans have been wondering if there would be any pre-shows similar to programs on ESPN, NFL Network and Fox before NFL football on Sundays. It now looks like the XFL will have something for fans, sort of.
Former ESPN Sportscenter anchor and current WWE host ‘The Coach’ Johnathan Coachman along with Friday Night Smackdown correspondent Alyse Zwick will be co-hosting “The Pregame” every Saturday and Sunday across all of the XFL’s social channels.
Football isn’t over…it’s just beginning. This. Is. The. XFL. ? Join @TheCoachrules and me every weekend starting THIS Saturday as we bring you everything you need to know before each game this inaugural season. Tune in LIVE on #XFL platforms !! #ForTheLoveOfFootball@xfl2020pic.twitter.com/qjJs4hmSbz
This is the first time current WWE on-air personalities have crossed over to the XFL. To be fair, Coachman spent years in Bristol Connecticut as an anchor for ESPN’s flagship program Sportscenter. Zwick previously worked at Fox 5 in New York as a traffic reporter before joining the WWE.
No set time has been announced and it looks like both broadcast partners have passed on any pre-game shows. Since the networks are covering the bill for the broadcast. They might be taking a wait and see approach. Doing something with WWE staff and streamed online is simple and easy to do in the meantime. All this could change if the league brings in big ratings and fans are clamoring for more XFL content on TV.
XFL News Hub will be broadcasting live via YouTube at Walters Sports Bar in Washington DC at 12 pm EST on Saturday. Just ahead of the Seattle Dragons vs DC Defenders game. Join Mark Perry and Konnor Fulk as they break down the games before kickoff of the XFL 2.0.
