News broke early Thursday morning that the XFL would be returning to play in the spring of 2022. Excitement, with a little bit of anxiety over it, was our first reaction, but what about the players and coaches who have also been waiting on news of the XFL 3.0.
XFL players received an email this morning as well, and XFL News Hub was able to obtain a copy:
The email was a thank you to the players, not necessarily an invitation back. But we are sure that will come soon enough. The baseline for a return in the Spring of 2022 has been set, now it is time to fill in the rest of the details over the next several weeks and months.
A lot needs to be done between now and the next set of preseason events. Coaches need to be hired, it is still unclear who is available, and who are still interested in returning in 2022. They all have been waiting along with us for official word from new ownership and now they have something.
Teams and facilities need to be lined up and staffed, and of course, a Commissioner must be named sooner, rather than later.
It’s all coming back. The XFL site has been updated, posts on the league’s social media accounts happened today, official statements from ownership and top executives came out early this morning. We can now add XFL players were notified by the league.
Hard for us not to be excited by all this news. There will be a lot going on between now and the kick off of the 2022 XFL season in the Spring.
So stay tuned…
