There will be no settlement between Oliver Luck and Vince McMahon in the impending XFL lawsuit.
The two parties are heading to trial after settlement talk lasted for all of nine minutes on Wednesday. Representatives for both sides quickly dissolved any amicable agreement quickly and forced a future trial date to be set. The exchange lasted for all of about nine minutes according to court documents.
Luck is suing Mcmahon’s enterprise Alpha Entertainment for 23.8 million in compensation for his unfulfilled contract as promised by McMahon. McMahon followed that with a counter suit alleging that Luck owned Alpha $572,000 for breaching his contract.
The breach clause stems from Luck’s responsibility to avoid signing players into the league that had previous legal trouble. McMahon’s camp alleges that Luck’s contact with former NFL wide receiver Antonio Callaway was cause for this violation the terms of his contract.
A trial date has been set for July 11.
