This weekend marks the beginning of an exciting journey for aspiring football players as the XFL 2023 Showcase events kick-off in Atlanta. These showcase events are designed to scout and identify top talent from around the country, and this year, the XFL has something special in store for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) with the XFL HBCU Showcase. The series of showcases will continue throughout the summer, providing ample opportunities for players to prove their mettle.
HBCU Talent Takes the Spotlight
On Saturday, June 17, Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia, hosted the XFL HBCU Showcase. This event was specifically aimed at scouting talent from HBCUs, which have historically been underrepresented in professional football. The players from various HBCUs around the country took part in various drills and simulations designed to gauge their skills and athleticism. According to a tweet by the XFL, six players from the HBCU Showcase have already been invited to the XFL Combine based on their stellar performances on Saturday.

Showcases Continue Throughout the Summer
The XFL Showcase events are not stopping at Atlanta. The series will continue to St. Louis on July 7, Washington DC on July 9, Houston on July 14, and Arizona on July 16. Each location will be a hub of talent, dedication, and aspiration as players put their best foot forward in hopes of getting noticed and advancing to the next stage.
The Road to the XFL Combine
The ultimate goal for many of these players is to be invited to the XFL Combine, which is scheduled for July 25-27 in Arlington, Texas. This will be an invite-only event, where the crème de la crème of talent scouted from the various showcases will have the opportunity to impress XFL team officials and potentially earn a spot on an XFL team.
Special Appearance by the XFL’s Owner & Chairwoman
Adding to the excitement of the event, the XFL’s Owner & Chairwoman, Dany Garcia, arrived in Atlanta. She was accompanied by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, adding a dash of star power to the proceedings. Their presence underscored the importance of these showcase events and their commitment to building a vibrant and competitive XFL.
