As coaching staffs try to hone down their rosters in training camp, Bob Stoops and the Dallas Renegades have swapped WR’s with the Tampa Bay Vipers. Stacy Coley-Miami has been shipped out in exchange for Freddie Martino-North Greenville.
Coley and Martino are both good receivers who were productive in college and have spent time in the pros, but each team must’ve felt the others’ talents better suited their offense.
Freddy Martino was a D-II standout who amassed 296 receptions, 4,166 yards from scrimmage and 31 touchdowns in 4 seasons. He’s been on the Falcons, Eagles and Buccaneers in the NFL, where he logged 238 yards and a score from 2016-2017. He most recently played in the AAF, where he saw some action with the Arizona Hotshots.
At 28 he’s in his physical prime, and brings a steady veteran presence to a Renegades WR corps that features young talents like Jeff Badet and Jerrod Heard. As Stacy Coley offered a lot of upside as well, it may seem like a lateral move, but the Renegades did well to add experience to their offense here.
