Dallas Renegades RB/KR Austin Walter was moved to the 53-man roster by the San Francisco 49ers. He is one of nine former XFL players on a current NFL active roster. He joins Renegades teammates TE Donald Parham(Chargers) and WR Jeff Badet(Washington) on an active NFL roster.
He was drafted by the Dallas Renegades in the 2020 XFL Supplemental Draft. He finished the 5 games shortened XFL season with 19 Rushing Yards and 31 Receiving Yards. His time in the backfield was limited with Lance Dunbar and Cameron Artis-Payne ahead of him. He did have this memorable 97-yard kick return against the New York Guardians.
Walter was an undrafted free agent in 2019 signing with the 49ers. He also had a stop with the Giants. This is his second stint with the 49ers. Walter played his college ball at Rice.
