Most XFL teams are starting to cut down the rosters to get down to 51 players before the February 10th deadline. The Arlington Renegades followed suit with 15 players being cut, three being added to the reserve list, and one player being acquired.
Arlington’s roster changed Wednesday night with multiple players removed from the roster, added to the reserve list, and running back Adrian Killins added to the roster. Here are the following players who were removed from the roster:
- Kenneth Farrow
- Rahim Moore
- Boe Wilson
- James Fagan
- Jake Stetz
- Cam Carter
- Ryan Mueller
- Micah Dew-Treadway
- Josh Watson
- Abu Daramy-Swaray
- Jake Molinich
- Jackson Anthrop
- Bryce Watts
- Glen Logan
- De’Montre Tuggle
Here are the three players who were added to the reserve list:
- JaCorey Sullivan
- Flynn Nagel
- Nasir Greer
As of the release of this article, 54 players were on the roster leaving the team with three more players to be released before February 10th.
XFL Analyst reported on Twitter Wednesday night that Killins was traded from the Houston Roughnecks in exchange for defensive lineman Glen Logan.
Biggest Takeaways From Massive Roster Moves
Kenneth Farrow seemed to have a tough time in camp as Keith Ford got the attention and praise from head coach Bob Stoops. During the open practice the Renegades hosted to fans, many saw Ford and De’Veon Smith getting the majority of the carries and reps. It’s a surprise to see Farrow cut, but it was looking like he was not going to get as much playing time as expected.
The move to add Adrian Killins is interesting as it means that Farrow and De’Montre Tuggle were removed from the roster leaving the backfield at four. Tuggle was taking kickoff returns in practice as that might have seemed to be the key for him to get on the roster as he didn’t get many offensive reps. Killins has blazing speed and might be replacing what Tuggle was brought on to do. It’s easy to potentially see Killins as the third down back on passing downs.
The receiving core took a hit as Flynn Nagel was sent to the reserve list after being a favorite to be in the slot receiver position. That honor might be going to Tyler Vaughns who impressed at open camp. Jordan Smallwood and LuJuan Winningham look to be in line to be the starting outside receivers for the offense.
Ryan Mueller was a linebacker who was one of the more veteran players on the defense. Mueller’s experience with the New York Guardians in 2020 made it easy to assume he could fight his way on the roster. In the end, Donald Payne, Nick Temple, Willie Taylor, Isaiah Graham-Mobley, and Edmund Robinson look poised to be in the rotation.
The Renegades’ secondary has seen their fair share of signings and releases over the past few weeks, but seeing Rahim Moore on the list of players removed was a bit of a surprise. Another player who has not only XFL experience, but NFL experience as well made him a good candidate to play. In the open practice, it was Will Hill paired with Jamal Carter at the safety positions so that could be the move going forward for Arlington.
Three more players need to be released on the roster to make the 51-player roster that the XFL is requiring of their teams. The positions to watch out for are defensive backs and tight ends that should see at least one cut. Other potentials include offensive line, defensive line, and linebacker. Transactions are almost done for the team. Now it’s about figuring out who are the right 51 players to fill out the roster.
