Former Defenders WR DeAndre Thompkins has signed with the Green Bay Packers, their GM announced on Wednesday He is the only XFL player on the roster and joins Defenders teammates OT Casey Tucker (Colts) and TE Tyree Jackson (Eagles) on NFL rosters.
Thompkins signed with the Eagles out of Penn State after going undrafted in 2019. After not making the active roster, DeAndre was drafted by the Defrnders in the 4th round of the 2020 XFL draft.
His biggest game came in Week 2 vs the Guardians where he caught 6 passes for 67 yards and a TD.
The 5’11” speedster ran a 4.3 40 at his Pro Day, and averaged 15 yards per catch at Penn State. He can use his speed to get separation, making him a weapon in space, and down the field.
The Packers have been known to use every WR on their active rosters, and we think Thompkins can contribute immediately, if he makes the final 55-man list.
