Jim Zorn To Join XFL As Head Coach/GM, Says Alex Marvez

Former Seahawks quarterback and Washington Redskins Head Coach Jim Zorn will reportedly be one of the new XFL coach/GM’s for the 2020 season, according to NFL reporter Alex Marvez.

Alex Marvez, a SiriusXM NFL Radio host, posted the following on his Twitter today;

Zorn has not been tied to any particular team yet, though it’s fair to speculate Seattle could be a top contender. Zorn, who lives in Washington, was the starting quarterback for the Seahawks’ first eight seasons and was inducted into the team’s Ring of Honor in 1991.

Seattle’s XFL team will play at CenturyLink Field, the home stadium for the NFL’s Seahawks.

Jim Zorn’s NFL Background

Jim Zorn is a former football player and coach in the National Football League. He was a left-handed quarterback and is best known as the starting quarterback of the Seattle Seahawks for their first eight seasons. He was the quarterback’s coach for the Seattle Seahawks from 2001 until the 2007 season, before being hired by the Washington Redskins to be their head coach starting in the 2008 season.

Shortly after being fired following the 2009 season, Zorn was hired as quarterbacks coach of the Baltimore Ravens. Zorn was released as quarterbacks coach of the Ravens on January 27, 2011, and then joined the Kansas City Chiefs as their new quarterbacks coach for the 2011 season.

We have not heard much from him since 2012 but being an offensive guy and ties to Seattle it seems like a great fit. His name along with Pep Hamilton and Jim Haslett could be part of the new crop of XFL head coaches going into the 2020 inaugural season.
