Falcons Cut Renegades CB Josh Hawkins From Practice Squad

Back in April, the Atlanta Falcons signed Dallas Renegades CB Josh Hawkins. He was cut on NFL-Cut-Down day two weeks ago but was signed to their practice squad. On Tuesday, the Falcons announced they released Hawkins. Houston Roughnecks LB Edmond Robinson still remains on the team’s Practice Squad.

Hawkins was one of seven Dallas Renegades players to sign pro contracts. Currently, only TE Donald Parham remains on an NFL squad. He was rated as one of the top CB’s in the XFL by our own Mike Mitchell.

Hawkins was taken in the Phase #5 Open Draft portion of the 2020 XFL Draft. At 27 years old, he had pro stops with the Packers, Panthers, Chiefs, and Philadelphia Eagles. He played his college ball at East Carolina.

As a big fan of the St. Louis Battlehawks I would love to know if the XFL will be returning next spring and if they are, wouldn’t they be smart to hire coaches and resign some of the former players who were released by the NFL?
