Falcons Bring Back Battlehawks DB Lukas Denis, Place Sea Dragons OL Barry Wesley on IR

Roster configuration in the NFL is always fluid, and alt-football players often themselves victims of last second transactions. Week One in the NFL is no exception in 2023, as a Sea Dragon and Battlehawk found themselves on the transaction feed for NFL teams. On September 5th, Lukas Denis was resigned by the Atlanta Falcons to their Practice Squad while Barry Wesley was placed on IR.

Denis was a fan favorite in St. Louis after being drafted in the November 2022 XFL Draft. In 10 games and 7 Starts, Denis totaled 37 Tackles, 2 INTs, and 1.0 Sack for the Battlehawks earning his first stint with the Falcons on May 15th. Denis impressed NFL fans with his stellar play, and highlight reel-esque ball skills during three preseason games for Atlanta, after getting released on August 29th, Denis was brought back to the Falcons on September 5th. Denis has also had stints with the Tampa Bay Bucs (2019), and played in the IFL in 2022 with the Massachusetts Pirates.

The Battlehawks set the standard for XFL teams, seeing 14 players earn NFL opportunities since the conclusion of the XFL season. Denis now joins Marcell Ateman, LaCale London, and Jaryd Jones-Smith all of whom are now on their respective teams practice squad. With NFL injuries and transactions continue to mount look for more Battlehawks to garner opportunities throughout the NFL season.
