During the 2022 ESPYs on ABC, XFL Co-Owners Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Dany Garcia gave a speech on why they brought back the XFL. This was a full segment that included a video about the XFL. There was no awards handed out, just 100% to promote the XFL in 2023.
At XFL News Hub we saw a huge jump in traffic after their appearance. This shows the importance and power of the XFL’s relationship with Disney/ESPN/ABC.
This is what XFL Co-Owner Dany Garcia and Chairwoman said about the impact of Title IX on her success.
“What an incredible honor it is to be here in front of all of you tonight, 50 years after the passing of Title IX, I am so proud to be a direct result of the influence and power of that legislation as I stand before you the first woman ever to have an equal or majority stake in a major American professional sports league.
As a former high school and collegiate and professional athlete, I had experiences and developed skills that fostered my passion to create meaningful impact. And I’m incredibly fortunate to have this man by my side to pursue that dream today.
The Rock talked about being player 54.
“Making it to the NFL was the greatest thing that never happened to me. As many in this room know, there are 53 men on an NFL roster. Well, I was always number 54. You’re good, but you’re not good enough. Now that chip that that put on my shoulder will never go away. But that same chip has become a blessing because it’s exactly what brought me here. To deliver a league of opportunity. An opportunity that I never had.”
Let the XFL hype begin. XFL cities and venues will be announced this Sunday. We expect more announcements as we build towards the the November XFL draft. The league continues to bring on people behind the scenes to fill out their front office positions. We should get more of those announcements next week as well.
