The CFL’s Calgary Stampeders this week signed Seattle Dragons RB Trey Williams. This is his second stint in the CFL. He spent three weeks on the Toronto Argonauts’ practice squad in 2017.
He is the 5th Seattle Dragons player to sign with a CFL team. CB Jeremy Clark (Roughriders), WR Dontez Byrd (Tiger-Cats), CB Channing Stribling (Tiger-Cats), and CB Jonathan Alston (Red Blacks) are currently on CFL rosters.
Williams joins 5 other XFL players on the Stampeders roster.
Drafted by the Seattle Dragons in the 1st round, 7th overall in the Phase #1 portion of the 2020 XFL Draft. He finished the 2020 shortened XFL season with 122 rushing yards and a TD as well as eight catches for 44 yards and a TD.
Williams spent time in the NFL with the Washington Football Team, Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins and Indianapolis Colts. He was also a member of the San Antonio Commanders of the AAF.
