Today the CFL’s Ottawa REDBLACKS announced they have signed DC Defenders DB Shamarko Thomas.
He is the 7th XFL player to sign with the REDBLACKS and the 4th DC Defenders player to sign with a CFL team.
He joins DT Na’ty Rodgers (Vipers), LB D’Juan Hines (Guardians), LB Jawuan Johnson (Guardians), CB Jonathan Alston (Dragons), QB Chase Litton (Dragons), OT Juwann Bushell-Beatty (BattleHawks), and WR Jalen Saunders (Roughnecks).
Thomas originally signed by the New York Guardians and was later traded in the first 3 player trade in XFL history to the DC Defenders. He finished the 2020 shortened XFL season with 11 defensive tackles.
At 30-years-old, Thomas spent time in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets, Buffalo Bills, Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos. He played his college ball at Syracuse.
