According to Jon Machota of The Athletic, the Dallas Cowboys have signed Houston Roughnecks CB Saivion Smith. He is the 5th Houston Roughnecks player to sign with an NFL team.
Smith had eight tackles and one pass break up in Houston’s first two games but was inactive the final three games. He was selected in the XFL Supplemental Draft by the Roughnecks. He played his college ball at LSU and Alabama.
Smith was once the nation’s top prep CB prospect coming out of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. He started his college career at LSU before transferring to a Mississippi junior college. Then finishing his career at Alabama. After a team-high three interceptions in his first season at Alabama, he decided to declare early for the draft.
He went undrafted and spent time with the Jaguars.
