Per the XFL Website, and various reports via Twitter the Battlehawks have signed Defensive Back Bryce Watts, and Offensive Lineman/Defensive Lineman Mike Panasiuk. Both players come to the XFL for their first shot at Alternative Football, after being cut/waived from NFL camps over the past two season.
Panasuik joins the Battlehawks after being place on injured reserve by the Panthers in 2021. Coming from a Polish Family and one of three boys, Panasiuk and his brother Jacub often would confuse Big Ten Offenses by speaking Polish during their time at Michigan State.
Despite being an All-Conference player at MSU, Panasuik went undrafted in 2020, where he’d have a short stint with the Las Vegas Raiders, before bouncing back and forth on the Carolina Panthers practice in 2020. After his injury, Panasuik was regulated to being a workout body most recently working out with the Steelers on January 4th. Panasuik brings versatility to the Battlehawks as he’s played both O-Line and D-Line with the Panthers.
The Battlehawks also brought in Bryce Watts, who was briefly with the Pittsburgh Steelers in May. Watts was an UDFA in 2022 who was waived after being placed on injured reserve on May 23rd of 2022. Watts bounced between Virginia Tech and UNC before starting Eight games for the UMass Minutemen in 2021. Watts totaled two interceptions, over 36 games in his collegiate career and has an opportunity to compete for the CB2 position that notably was left vacant by the departure of Channing Stribling to the USFL’s Philadelphia Stars.
Despite a less than accurate website, it does appear that Watts, and Panasuik are with the team. As the XFL 2023 season comes closer, look for more additions and subtractions to the Battlehawks as the league sorts out transactions.
