The XFL kicked off this past weekend and turned the heads of many with its unique rules and procedures as well as the production and media around the league. It also signaled the start of the DFS (and gambling) season for the new football league.
DraftKings, a part of the twin towers of the DFS world with Fanduel, had a set of contests for the new league including an impressive $10 Entry, $350,000 prize pool contest with a $100,000 top prize.
With the countless variables including the new extra-point rules, speed of the game and relatively unknown depth charts – XFL DFS is off to a puzzling start. For your lineup, you are able to utilize a 1 QB, 1 RB, 2 WR and 2 FLEX (RB/WR/TE) as well as a DST. This is a departure from the typical NFL lineup construction which includes 1 QB, 2RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 FLEX and 1 DST.
With a limited amount of familiar names, the ownership was relatively on par with what we expected. However, the performance of some was completely unpredictable like James Butler (HOU RB) putting up a leading 19 points with 0.01% ownership.
-Charles Kanoff with 20.66 DK points on only 0.34% ownership -Aaron Murray (14.31%) with only 7.24 DK points -James Butler with 19 DK points on 0.01% -Trey Williams with 14.3 DK points on 0.58% -Cameron Artis-Payne with only 6.3 DK points despite being in 43.5% of lineups -Austin Proehl leading the way with 26.1 DK points and only being in 5.16% of lineups -Dan Williams with 21.3 DK Points on 3.1% ownership -Sammie Coates with only 4.6 DK points while being in 51.23% of lineups -Khari Lee being owned by 0.50% of participants and leading all Tight Ends with 10.9 DK points
