The XFL is the 2023 innovation to the American football playing experience for professionals. The XFL is much like the NFL except it enhances how players engage in professional football while innovating the way fans view the sport. However, the XFL is different in that there are only 10 games per season rather than the 17 the NFL hosts.
So who is the highest-paid XFL player? How much do XFL players make in general? When watching the next NFL or XFL game, place a football bet to enhance the overall fun of the viewership experience.
An XFL player makes an average yearly salary of almost $60,000. Each player gets $5,000 for game participation. Players on a winning team each receive a $1,000 bonus. During their five-week training camp, every player gets $800 per week.
However, if a player’s performance is exemplary, or they have past great performances in the NFL, they could be awarded more for their salary. There is one such player that fits this description, which is why he is known as the current highest-salaried XFL player.
Brett Hundley, a football quarterback for XFL’s Vegas Vipers, was paid $200,000 for the 2023 season, which is $140,000 more (500% higher) than the regular XFL player’s salary. Learn how the almost thirty-year-old football legend showed his skills as an injury substitute and gain popularity on the gridiron for almost the past decade.
Hundley started his professional career during the 2012 to 2014 seasons for the UCLA college football team. He was a fifth-round pick in the 147th position for the NFL Draft 2015 for the Green Bay Packers.
He got his first big break to show the Packers what he was made of during a game against the Minnesota Vikings in October 2017. Aaron Rodgers suffered an injured collarbone during the game and Hundley was brought in as a substitute.
He finished 18 passes of the 33 that were done when he was substituted. He accumulated 157 yards and got the team one touchdown. However, the Packers still lost against the Vikings (23-10).
Hundley has continued to have a successful career in the NFL before transferring to the Vegas Vipers in the XFL. He was on the Seattle Seahawks from 2018 to 2019 and the Arizona Cardinal from 2019 to 2020.
From 2021 to 2022, Hundley played for the Indianapolis Colts. He was on the Baltimore Ravens for a few months in the spring and summer of 2022 before going to the New Orleans Saints on their practice squad for 6 days in November 2022.
Hundley returned to the Baltimore Ravens for a practice squad contract between December 2022 to January 2023. He began playing for the Vegas Vipers at the start of their first season in February 2023.
Brett Hundley played in five of the ten games for the 2023 XFL season. Of these five games, he started two of them as the leading quarterback. He’s completed a total of 37 passes out of the 69 attempted ones. Hence, his completion percentage for passes is 53.6%. During his passes, he accumulated 492 yards with an average of 7.1 yards per passing attempt.
Will Brett Hundley stay with the Vegas Vipers for the 2024 XFL season? Will he return to the NFL any time soon and continue his career from there? Only time will tell as training for the 2024 season soon arrives for the NFL in the summer of 2023 and the XFL in the winter of 2023 to 2024.
