Josh Johnson & Cardale Jones Cut By NFL Teams Today

We reported back on August 11th that quarterback Josh Jones, a player on the XFL’s tier-one radar signed with the Detroit Lions, we thought ending his shot with the XFL.

On September 11th we reported that Cardale Jones, another player on the XFL’s tier-one radar signed with the Seattle Seahawks, in effect also ending his shot in the XFL. Today both players were cut from their respective teams.

The Detroit Lions cut Jones and signed quarterback Jeff Driskel to add depth behind starting quarterback Matthew Stafford. The Lions also have rookie quarterback David Blough on their roster. Driskel last played for the Cincinnati Bengals and started five games for the injured Andy Dalton.

According to a report from Pro Football Talk, the Seattle Seahawks cut quarterback Cardale Jones from their practice squad. ESPN is reporting that Seattle is expected to re-sign offensive lineman Elijah Nkansah to take his spot on the practice squad.

The life of an NFL player is tough bouncing from one team to the next looking for opportunities. It is finally time for both players to take a serious look at the XFL opportunity. The XFL draft is in mid-October. The league is in the process of signing their tier one players.
