After the league released its new brand, the XFL also filed a trademark for NFT and Metaverse experiences for fans. Many pro sports leagues are getting in the NFT space and Metaverse, so this is no surprise. Also, it looks like the XFL has plans for a XFL Logo Coin NFT to start.

It also looks like the league might be getting into a subscription streaming service for their content. Could this mean a deal with Amazon, Netflix, or another streaming platform are in the works?
C 035. US 100 101 102. G & S: Subscription to a television channel, namely, continuing subscription video program in the field of sports broadcast over the internet and a continuing subscription audio program in the field of football broadcast over the internet; online retail store services featuring virtual goods in the field of sports and entertainment; online retail store services featuring virtual goods, including augmented reality works, artwork, avatars, characters, clothing, digital animated and non-animated designs and characters, digital overlays, metahumans, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and virtual tokens; retail store services featuring virtual goods, namely, downloadable images, audio, video, music, artwork, text, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), or a combination thereof, all featuring content in the field of sports and entertainment and all for use in the metaverse, online, and virtual environments; provision of an online marketplace for buyers and sellers of digital assets and virtual goods in the nature of images, music, video clips, and non-fungible tokens (NFTs), all featuring content in the field of sports and entertainment.
Just because the XFL trademarked these items doesn’t mean they are happening. This filing could be just a trademark to cover all bases for the XFL. The USFL and FCF already have NFT digital collectibles. The NBA has been doing it as well. This NFT space is a new way for leagues to generate revenue and specifically for players to make extra money.
If you are a fan of sports and will not watch if the league does NFTs. I have news for you. You won’t be watching any sports in the next three years. All the big major sports leagues have NFT plans in the works.
Maybe cornhole leagues on ESPN 2 won’t have NFTs, and you can watch that.
UPDATE: Credit XFL Brian who found this on the Shop.XFL.com site.
