Report: Bob Stoops Set To Return To The XFL Dallas Franchise

PFN Insider Aaron Wilson reports that Bob Stoops will return to coach the XFL Dallas Franchise in 2023. Something our XFL Insider Mike Mitchell wrote weeks ago.

“The XFL franchise coached by former Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops will be based in Dallas when the league relaunches in 2023, according to league sources.”

XFL fans were hoping for a big XFL announcement rumored to be on June 1st, and we got nothing. We have heard of August as the time frame for when the team’s names, cities, and logos will come out.

Stoops, the legendary former head coach of the Oklahoma Sooners, went 191-48 during his career from 1999 to 2016. He led the team to a national championship in 2000 while also winning the Bear Bryant Coach of the Year award. He recently coached the Sooners to a win in the 2021 Alamo Bowl as a fill-in.

Stoops is the only XFL 2.0-era head coach to return. The Dallas Renegades went 2 – 3 before the league was shut down in 2020. He joins Reggie Barlow, Anthony Becht, Terrell Buckley, Jim Haslett, Wade Phillips, Hines Ward, and Rod Woodson as XFL coaches.

Stoops was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2021.
