Former Bulldog Davin Bellamy Re-Signs for the DC Defenders

While Georgia doesn’t have a team competing in the UFL, fans can still back former Bulldogs including defensive end Davin Bellamy who was resigned by the DC Defenders for his third season with the team.

This is great news for Georgia betting sites with fans following former players and demanding markets on player performances and teams across the NFL and UFL.

Bellamy comes in just a few days before team cuts are made after holding out for months. While this would work against a lot of players, and he still has to put in a lot of work to make the cut, his history with the team and his ability give him every chance.

His last foray into Spring football saw him earn all-USFL honors for the New Orleans Breakers in 2022 after posting 5.5 sacks and 40 tackles.

He joined the Defenders in 2023 when the club was in the XFL and earning all-XFL honors after starting 8 from 10 and posting 5.5 sacks and 18 tackles. The following year was not as productive despite still enjoying the majority of starts, posting just 1 sack and 15 tackles. However, this has been put down to DC strengthening their team and other players being able to step up.

The Defenders’ staff know what Bellamy is capable of, but he will have to compete with Derick Roberson, Nelson Ceaser, Malik Fisher, and Quincy Roche to break into the rotation.

The 6ft 4″, 259lb, 30-year-old was born in Chamblee, Georgia, and attended the city’s high school. He joined the Georgia Bulldogs in 2013, playing 10 games in the 2014 and 2015 seasons before making 11 starts and featuring in all 13 games in 2016. His last season with the Bulldogs in 2017 saw him feature in all 15 games and start 14 and enjoy strong performances.

Undrafted in 2018, he went on to sign for the Houston Texans before being waived and signed to the team’s practice squad. In 2019 he signed a contract as a reserve/future before being waived during roster cuts before joining the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad in September of that year.

When Bellamy’s contract with the Bengals ended in January 2020, he returned to the Houston Texans practice squad where he remained for a year and moved on to the Tennessee Titans in January 2021. He left the Titans in May, signing for the San Francisco 49ers before being waived after just 6 days. A similarly short stint at the Los Angeles Chargers followed when he signed on August 17 before being waived on August 30.

Bellamy entered into the 2022 USFL draft and was the second-round first pick for the New Orleans Breakers, making an instant impact by being named the defensive player of the week in week 1. He moved on after the expiration of his contract on December 31st, 2022 before joining the DC Defenders the following day in the XFL Supplemental Draft of 2023.
