News continues to trickle in regards to the USFL kicking off in the Spring of 2022. CBS 42’s Art Franklin spoke with the President of the Alabama Sports Council at Legion Field, Gene Hallman.
We know that the $3.6 million needed to get the USFL season underway in 2022 has been completed. It is now on the lawyers to review and finalize the agreement. Hallman did add a couple of minor news tidbits during the live interview.
“The attorneys are working on it now. So who knows? But it should be fairly quick. Look, they’re going to start preseason March 1 with practices, so they’ve got to do a draft. There’s so much football work that the USFL must do. So time is precious, but we can make it happen as a community. Just a great thing for Birmingham and Jefferson County.”
Gene Hallman
Now that we have a location in place, next up for the USFL will run the league. What coaches will come on board. If a player draft were to happen, it would need to be in February, only four months away. We assume they will be following the TSL model in year one, but if they want to get in on Merch sales for Christmas, we need some logos and USFL teams soon.
We will keep you posted on all the latest USFL news.
