The IFL’s Bay Area Panthers are gearing up for a robust defensive lineup as they announce the re-signing of linebacker Wes Bowers. Following a dynamic first season in the Indoor Football League (IFL), Bowers carved out a notable position within the team’s defensive unit, finishing fifth in total tackles. His on-field acumen led to 8.5 tackles for loss, securing him the second spot on the team for this statistic.
Showing an affinity for the ball, Bowers recorded two interceptions and recovered two fumbles throughout the season. One notable play involved Bowers transforming a fumble recovery into a score—his famous “scoop-and-score”—which added the first points for the Panthers in a crucial away game against Frisco.
Before creating ripples in the IFL, Bowers honed his athletic prowess at Georgetown University for three years, earning accolades such as All-Conference and FCS Sophomore All-American in 2018. His collegiate journey took a pivotal turn when he transferred to Bowie State, where he contributed to the team’s success as a CIAA Champion.
Voicing his enthusiasm about rejoining the Bay Area Panthers, Bowers stated, “It’s an honor to be back with the amazing organization of the Bay Area Panthers. I’m excited for another opportunity to showcase my talents and skills with a great staff, front office, and the team—my brothers.”
The sense of community and camaraderie is vital to Bowers: “To our fans, I love you, and we’re back! The work is getting done, and we will see you all in March. Thank God for this opportunity. I can’t wait to make my family, friends, and Panther Nation proud as we fight day in and day out to achieve our goals.”
Ever motivated and spirited, he further added, “Let’s empty the tank and get the jungle jumping again. Go Panthers!” His return is seen as a boost of strength and determination for the team’s aspirations in the upcoming season.
The Bay Area Panthers express anticipation to witness Bowers’ performance reconvene on the field. His track record speaks for itself, and with the new season approaching, both the Panthers and their fans are ready for the action that Bowers is sure to bring.
