ATLANTA, GA (December 12, 2022) – Fan Controlled Sports & Entertainment (FCSE), today announced the return of Fan Controlled Football (FCF) for Season 3 in May 2023, making it the first-ever professional spring football league to return for a third season.
FCF is the only professional sports league that empowers fans to make key decisions for their favorite team, including calling plays in real-time. The weekly action for Season v3.0 will return to Atlanta, with games played weekly at FCF’s state-of-the-art venue.
“This has been an incredible journey, bringing our vision to life,” said FCSE CEO and Co-Founder Sohrob Farudi. “Heading into season 3.0, our team has done what no other league has been able to do, thanks to our passionate fans. Without them, we wouldn’t be here today. I can’t wait to take it up a notch, again, in season 3.0. LFG!”
FCSE launched FCF in February 2021 to redefine football for the digital age, combining the competitiveness of live sports, the engagement of fantasy sports, and the interactivity of video games into a live streamed, leaned-in fan experience. Currently, FCF features eight teams owned and led by some of the biggest names in sports, entertainment, and Web3, including Richard Sherman, Austin Ekeler, Rachel Lindsay, Quavo, Renee Montgomery, Marshawn Lynch, Bored Ape Yacht Club, Druski, and Steve Aoki.
“The fans have spoken,” said Sherman, co-owner of the FCF Glacier Boyz. ”Excited to get after it in season three alongside our fans. We’ve made some good runs in the past, but we’re definitely looking forward to winning the championship this time around.”
Players interested in playing for FCF can apply at www.FCF.io. Tryouts will take place in Atlanta on January 8, 2023, with Orlando, Houston, and Los Angeles hosting tryouts in February 2023.
“FCF’s unique concept and level of fan engagement attracted me from the beginning” said Ekeler, co-owner of the SB Stars. “Fans these days are looking to get more involved in the action and FCF brings them right in the middle of it. The league brings the excitement of live-sports competition merged with the interactivity of video games.”
Last Season, FCF games were broadcast and streamed live on Twitch, NBC LX, Peacock and DAZN. The league’s long list of sponsors in previous seasons include Wendy’s, Progressive Insurance, Gatorade and Tyson Foods.
FCF experienced a record-breaking year during Season v2.0 including 21 million live views – more than double the league’s first season – becoming one of the fastest growing sports channels on Twitch. The FCF mobile app has become one of the most downloaded sports apps in the Apple App Store, and FCF social platforms received a record 114 million video views. Overall, more than 200,000 fans registered to call plays and make key decisions for their favorite FCF team last year.
In addition to creating FCF, FCSE recently announced the launch of a new, groundbreaking basketball league, Fan Controlled Hoops (FCH). Set to debut later in 2023 with four teams, the newly announced league will bring the same interactive format of FCF to the sport of basketball.
Former Executive Director of the National Basketball Players Association Michele Roberts and former NBA All-Star Baron Davis, are both serving as strategic advisors for FCH.
