Bob Stoops Adds Steve Spurrier’s Son Scott To XFL Dallas Staff

Scott Spurrier

XFL Dallas officially announced the addition of new staff members to coach under Bob Stoops for the 2020 XFL season. Many of these names we have already covered including, Jeffrey Jadgodzinski as Offensive Line Coach, Bobby Blizzard Running Backs Assistant coach, Jarrail Jackson Wide Receivers Assistant coach, and Jim Jeffcoat as Defensive line coach.

One name new to this list is that of Scott Spurrier, son of Steve Spurrier. Steve Spurrier last lead the Orlando Apollos of the Alliance Of American Football to the best record before the league folded after eight games. His son Scott was the Tight Ends coach for the Apollos.

Scotts role under Bob Stoops will be Quality control assistant coach. He previously coached at the University of South Florida as a quality control assistant for the offense.

Before that, Spurrier had been part of the South Carolina football program with his father. He spent eight seasons as a member of the Gamecocks’ football coaching staff.

Scott is the youngest son of Heisman winning quarterback and Hall Of Fame football coach, Steve Spurrier.

Why does Dallas get the naming notoriety when the team plans on playing in Arlington, the 48th largest city in the same county as Fort Worth, the 13th largest city? Don’t give me the Dallas Cowboys play in Arlington excuse either. The history was well in place and accepted when they moved to Arlington. Know the area you’re trying to build your fan base and try not to repulse the majority of us who can’t stand Dallas and the limelight that it hogs. Naming should recognize Texas in the title.
