Former Syracuse QB Eric Dungey Signs With Dallas Renegades

On Wednesday, according to the Renegades’ Twitter account, the Dallas Renegades signed former Syracuse quarterback Eric Dungey. The Renegades brought Dungey in to add depth after star QB Landry Jones went down with a knee injury.

Jones is expected to be out 4 to 6 weeks, which puts in jeopardy him starting Week one against the St. Louis BattleHawks. Dungey, along with Philip Nelson out of East Carolina, will battle for the starting job.

Dungey played in all four seasons at Syracuse but went undrafted in the 2019 NFL draft. The New York Giants signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2019. The Giants waived him in July.

He later signed with the Cleveland Browns’ practice squad in October but was released in December.

Dungey threw for 9,340 yards and 58 touchdowns in his career for the Syracuse Orangemen.

Dallas will play its first game on February 9th against the St. Louis BattleHawks on ESPN at 5 p.m EST.

This is a great addition for two reasons. dungey is a promising young quarterback which fits what they need. Landry jones will be back probably by week 2. Secondly Dungey is a swiss army knife he can do a little bit of everything which will be a benefit on trick plays and etc. This is a great pick up
