XFL Draft Two Day Event Taking Place November 16 & 17, More Details

Neil Stratton of Inside The League (ITL) recently got some questions answered by XFL Senior Vice President of Player Personnel Doug Whaley. Here are the notes from this week’s newsletter.

The draft will be held Nov. 16-17.

The league has identified 10-14 quarterbacks who will be targeted once the league irons out a few contract issues.

Offensive linemen are a priority as the league continues to add to its player pool.

We heard from XFL St Louis Head Coach Anthony Becht a few weeks back that the XFL draft was on November 16th. Now we see it will be a two-day event. Still no official word from the XFL on the draft. We still don’t know if it will be held online or shown on ESPN or when it will occur. During the day or at night.

So far, based on XFL Director of Quarterback Development Jordan Palmers’ Instagram account, we know of 9 potential XFL QBs. XFL Insider Mike Mitchell already has the tentative team assignments.

Louisville/PVA&M QB: Jawon Pass (San Antonio)

Miami QB: D’Eriq King (DC)

Troy QB: Brandon Silvers (Houston)

Colorado QB: Steven Montez (Seattle)

Baylor/NC State QB: Jalan McClendon (Las Vegas)

Ball State QB: Drew Plitt (Arlington)

Virginia Tech QB: Ryan Willis (St. Louis)

FSU/Hampton QB: Deondre Francois (Orlando)

No surprise the XFL is looking for good Offensive line players. Good OL players are hard to find, even in the NFL.

We still have not heard XFL team names and logos, making XFL fans frustrated. It looks like Hurricane Ian caused that, knocking the XFL off its planned schedule. ‘Local Activation events’ were set to take place but were canceled and have yet to be rescheduled.

With The Rock’s promotion schedule for Black Adam, fans might have to wait until the movie premiere on October 20th.
