XFL Buyers Included Media Companies And Sports Leagues

According to a report by Dan Primack of Axios. The list of potential XFL buyers is starting to get a bit more clear. Interest is coming from all sides of the entertainment world.

“Word is that there were several indicative offers that came in by an earlier June 22 deadline, with prospective bidders coming from both the media/entertainment and pro sports worlds. My source says that these offers were for the entire league — not select assets — although I’ve been unable to get secondary confirmation.”

It looks like along with the rumor of Disney/FOX interest, pro sports leagues could be added to the mix. Does that mean football leagues like the NFL or CFL are interested? That part is unclear from the report.

Other good news for the XFL from Primack is the better than expected interest in the start-up league. This is all good news for seeing the XFL returning in 2021.

“One reason that there may be greater-than-expected interest is that any buyer could have extra runway to relaunch, given that established sports leagues remain either closed or diminished due to the pandemic.”

All bids on the XFL are due by July 30th, with the auction being held on August 3rd. The final hearing on the sale of the XFL is August 7th.

XFL missed a great opportunity with Corona virus…They should have continued to televise the games…They would have been only game in town…People might have grown to appreciate the league.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that if the XFL does return from the brink of extinction, they probably won’t see the football field until 2022.

Please XFL Return. Personally, I loved the league, and was saddened when it had to stop because of the Pandemic. I did not miss a game. Year round football, oh yeah!!!!!
