Seattle Dragons To Play In Empty Stadium Due To COVID-19

The increased risk of the COVID-19 virus outbreak in the Seattle, Washington area is causing more unfortunate news for the Seattle Dragons and XFL fans.

“Based on the proclamation issued Wednesday by Washington Governor Jay Inslee, the Seattle Dragons will host the LA Wildcats this Sunday, as scheduled. The game will take place at 4pm PT at CenturyLink Field without fans in the venue. The game will be broadcast live, also as scheduled, on ESPN2.”

Jeffrey Pollack, XFL President & COO

The Dragons announced today, Wednesday, there will be no fans in attendance due to the public health concerns.

All single-game ticket holders for the game against the Los Angeles Wildcats on Sunday will receive a full refund.

Season ticket holders will either receive a refund or a credit towards a 2021 Dragons’ home game.

The team posted a question and answer page concerning the refunds on its website. https://www.xfl.com/seattle-dragons-refund

Week 6 features the Dragons taking on the LA Wildcats at home with the kickoff at 4 p.m. PDT.

Today, Washington state Gov. Jay Inslee announced a ban on events in the King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties with more than 250 people.

Inslee stated, “This is an unprecedented public health situation, and we can’t wait until we’re in the middle of it to slow it down. We’ve got to get ahead of the curve. One main defense is to reduce the interaction of people in our lives.”

Has the team reported any players with flu like symptoms? I was hoping to go to the game this weekend.

In a large outdoor stadium i would have to think the chance of spreading germs is pretty minimal, its not like an indoor basketball arena where everyone breathes the same air.

I really hope they dont cancel the season, maybe they could just move games to states like Nebraska and Oklahoma where there are virtually no Covid-19 cases.
