The league’s decision to suspend operations appears to have come just in time, as an XFL player has tested positive for the virus. Per ESPN Radio’s @xoholly
Our own Konnor Fulk has also verified this through his sources, and our hearts go out to the affected player. The league officially suspended the season yesterday because of health concerns, and it was clearly the safest route.

I’m being told that a player from the @XFLDragons started feeling symptoms of the COVID-19 virus and was sent home Tuesday. He ultimately tested positive
Dragons teammates have been told it’s low risk to them as there has been little contact.
Dragons players have been allowed to fly back to their respective homes due to the low risk.— Konnor Fulk (@KonnorFulk_XFL) March 14, 2020
@XFLDragons players have been requested to self quarantine when they settle at home, out of heightened caution
Players have been told to only pursue tests if they’re feeling ill.
They have committed to the 2021 season and are making all efforts to look out for the well being of their players and staff. Contracts have been honored, and players will continue to be paid for the final 5 games of the season that won’t get to happen.
We don’t know who has come down with the virus, but obviously our thoughts are with the player, their family and their teammates. For information on coronavirus and how to stay safe, please refer to Center for Disease Control and the World Health Organization.
