Roughnecks Edge Out Brahmas in Second Overtime Game Of Weekend 17 – 15

In a nail-biting matchup at the Alamodome, the Houston Roughnecks emerged victorious over the San Antonio Brahmas with a 17-15 overtime win. The crowd of 12,243 witnessed a hard-fought battle as both teams showcased their resilience and determination.

The game started with both teams trading field goals in the first quarter, with Houston leading 6-3. The Roughnecks maintained their lead throughout the second quarter, and by halftime, the scoreboard read 9-6 in favor of Houston. In the third quarter, the Roughnecks extended their lead to 15-6 with a touchdown pass from quarterback Brandon Silvers.

However, the Brahmas refused to go down without a fight. They held the Roughnecks scoreless in the fourth quarter and scored a field goal and a touchdown to tie the game at 15-15, sending the game into overtime. In the end, Houston managed to clinch the win with a safety, making the final score 17-15.

Houston’s Brandon Silvers had a mixed performance, completing 17 of 36 passes for 146 yards, with two touchdowns and two interceptions. San Antonio’s Jack Coan completed 23 of 41 passes for 190 yards but was unable to find the end zone, throwing two interceptions.

In the rushing department, San Antonio’s Jacques Patrick outperformed Houston’s running backs, carrying the ball 16 times for 96 yards and a touchdown. Houston’s running game struggled, with the team amassing a total of only 25 rushing yards.

The Roughnecks’ top receiver was Max Borghi, who caught three passes for 49 yards, while Landen Akers led the Brahmas with five receptions for 62 yards. Both teams’ defenses put up solid performances, with Houston’s defense registering six sacks and two interceptions, and San Antonio’s defense recording two sacks and two interceptions.

Houston’s kicker Austin Jones was perfect on the day, converting his only field goal attempt from 41 yards. John Parker Romo, the Brahmas’ kicker, was equally impressive, hitting all three of his field goal attempts, with a long of 49 yards.

A Cole McDonald Two-Point conversion in Overtime sealed the game.

With this win, the Houston Roughnecks improve to a 5-3 record, while the San Antonio Brahmas drop to 2-6. The Roughnecks will look to build on this momentum in their upcoming games, and the Brahmas will hope to bounce back from this heartbreaking loss.

The Houston Roughnecks have secured a spot in the South Division Championship game with their 17-15 OT victory over the San Antonio Brahmas. The South Division Championship game will be played on Saturday, April 29 at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
