A report by Frank Cusumano of KSDK hints that the XFL’s BattleHawks could be returning to St Louis. Nothing official from The Dome at America’s Center or the XFL yet but dates have been booked.

According to Cusumano;

“5 On Your Side’s Frank Cusumano has learned that the Dome at America’s Center is open to welcoming the XFL back to town with the league set to kick off next spring.

Cusumano reports that The Dome has reserved five weekend dates for next spring for possible XFL home games in St. Louis.“

This would not be a surprise as St Louis was the league’s most engaged fan base. Prior to shutting its doors due to COVID, the BattleHawks was set to open up upper-level seating at The Dome in a game against the Los Angeles Wildcats. The team had the highest attendance in all of the XFL.

Our own Mike Mitchell has been reporting that the XFL version of the Hub would have teams training in Texas but then fly to their scheduled games. Keeping costs down while still connecting fans with their home team and providing better optics on TV.

Yesterday the XFL announced a multi-year broadcasting rights agreement with The Walt Disney Company and ESPN to broadcast XFL games on ABC, ESPN, and FX. The deal is for five years.

The XFL 3.0 era is set to kick off on Saturday, Feb. 18th, 2023. It would surprise no one if the first XFL game back were in St Louis. No official word on team names and cities yet. That is expected to happen over the Summer.
