LA Wildcats Blowout DC Defenders, 39-9

LA Wildcats (1-2) vs DC Defenders (2-1) @ Dignity Health Sports Park

XFL Scoring Recap: LA Wildcats Beat DC Defenders 9 – 39

The Wildcats got off to a good start early with Josh Johnson connecting with Tre McBride for a 40 yard touchdown. The Wildcats defense was electric from the start, only giving up 28 total yards in the 1st quarter. The Wildcats were able to get a nice drive going topped off with a Larry Rose 1-yard touchdown. Backed by the stellar defense, Tre McBride scored yet another touchdown to put the Wildcats up 20-0.

The Wildcats special teams then got involved with a blocked punt that put the Wildcats on the edge of the goal line. Martez Carter punched one in to extend the lead to 27-0. The Defenders were able to hit a field goal to end the half. The 2nd half was not much better for the Defenders. The Wildcats were able to get more turnovers and more touchdowns and were able to finish the game strong scoring 39 points and only allowing 9.

LA Wildcats Review

The Wildcats came out of the gate strong and fiery. Although the team was without their starting RB and both starting CB’s, both the offense and defensive were amazing. Josh Johnson and Tre McBride were on the same page from the start with McBride catching 2 TD’s in the 1st half alone. The defense was even better than the offense.

The Wildcats defense was able to force 4 interceptions off of Cardale Jones. The Wildcats have silenced the haters by putting on a show against one of the top teams in the league.

75 total yards, 3 TD’s (Martez Carter- RB)

5 catches, 109 yards, 2 TD’s (Tre McBride- WR)

6 total tackles, 2 pass deflection, 2 INT’s (Mike Stevens- CB)

18/25, 278 passing yards, 3 TD’s (Josh Johnson- QB)

DC Defenders Review

Many were concerned about how DC would handle its first road game and those concerned hit it on the spot. The Defenders came out looking nothing like they did in the first 2 games of the season. Cardale Jones was unable to do anything and was off on his throws all day. After looking like a championship team the first 2 weeks, it is clear the Defenders have a lot of work to do if they want to compete at that level.

13/26, 103 yards, 4 INT’s (Cardale Jones-QB)

6 total tackles,1 tackle for loss (Jameer Thurman- LB)

5 total tackles (Scooby Wright-LB)

Fantasy Review

If you had Wildcats on your team this week  then you were in a prime position. However, if you had any Defenders on your team, this week was not your best week at all. Cardale Jones ended the game with 103 yards and 4 interceptions.

No DC receiver got over 38 yards and running backs Donnel Pumphrey and Jhurrell Pressley combined for 60 yards. On the Wildcats end, Martez Carter was the key sleeper of the week. Carter was able to score 3 TD’s today to go along with Tre McBride’s 2.
