Garcia: XFL Looking At Expansion, Pollack Returns As XFL President

According to a report in The Athletic, XFL Co-Owner Dany Garcia says the league is looking to expand from its eight teams in the future. She also mentions they will bring back Jeffrey Pollack as XFL president.

First, on the idea that the league would expand into new markets and potentially add new teams, this is what she had to say.

“[W]e love eight teams. We love eventually having more than eight teams. I think we’ll be reviewing some of the markets as we should. There was a lot of great work that was done and was succeeding. But I think whenever you have time to reset, I think it’s a really, really important time to just reassess.”

There is no way the league would add new teams in 2021. The idea would be to first get through one season in the post-COVID-19 era and go from there.

We have reported earlier the XFL was looking into markets like Orlando and San Antonio before the league shut down. Those options could be back on the table as the league begins to ramp up and go for a 2021 season.

To bring stability to the league they have just purchased, the plan is to also bring back XFL president Jeffrey Pollack.

“The new owners plan to keep XFL president Jeffrey Pollack and his existing management team, Garcia added.”

Does this mean the plan is to bring back all the XFL team presidents? We did see this interaction between Garcia and LA Wildcats Team President Heather Brooks Kartaz on Twitter.

An untapped market would be on Long Island, New York. There is no pro football in NY. Fans in Connecticut could just take the ferry

Oakland and San Diego should be at the top of the list.
