EXCLUSIVE: XFL Coaches Find Out Next Week If They Will Be Retained

According to a source who would rather remain nameless, head coaches are expected to find out from the league late next week if they’ll be retained, or if clubs will need to find a new staff.

One coach we know won’t be back is former DC Defenders HC Pep Hamilton. He took the QBs coaching job with the LA Chargers.

We would assume the team presidents and other execs would find out earlier in the week, and then notify their staffs, but that is unknown own at this time.

Things seem to be moving pretty quickly since the XFL was bought out of bankruptcy. The sale was made completely final, and the proverbial keys were given to the new owners yesterday.

Curiously, one day after that happened, and on the same day that Cardale Jones worked out for the Raiders, former Defenders team president Erik Moses left the team to become the president at Nashville Superspeedway.

Players and coaches alike have come forward to say they’ll return to play/coach, and the sooner staffs are filled, the sooner we can get back in the field.

For now, coaches and their assistants wait by the phone, or have taken jobs they can easily walk away from if staffs are retained. DC will need to find a new HC at the very least.

Even though the coaches are listed on the creditor’s list in the Alpha bankruptcy case, this doesn’t keep them from returning. being a creditor in a bankruptcy case, even if it’s against the company you work for, does not preclude you from still being employed by that company.

Looking forward to what is shaping up to be a big week in the XFL.

UPDATE: Sources say some initial conversations may take place over the next several weeks but nothing is set in stone for next week. There are still many other shoes to drop before the league can start adding personnel.

Easy fix for the Defenders, hire Steve Spurrier to coach the Vipers and offer Trestman the Defenders vacancy.

You basically nullified the premise of the article with the addendum. No hate. Perhaps dig for named sources.
