BattleHawks WR De’Mornay Pierson-El Added To Raiders Practice Squad

Lost in the excitement of the news about the league officially launching in 2022, another former XFL player was signed to the practice squad of the Las Vegas Raiders.

De’Mornay Pierson-El was signed to the Las Vegas Raiders practice squad on September 30th.  He signed with the Raiders back in May but was cut before the NFL season. He was one of eight BattleHawks players to sign NFL deals. Currently, he and QB Jordan Ta’amu are the only players on NFL Practice squads.

Pierson-El has been on a few teams since he was first signed as an undrafted free-agent in 2018 by Washington.

He signed on with the Montreal Alouettes, but was cut after only dressing for one game. After that, he signed on with the Salt Lake Stallions with the AAF where he caught 36 passes for 414 yards and one touchdown before the league shut down.

Once the AAF shut down, he was signed by the Raiders, but was waived by the team before going back on to the practice squad. He did see some time in preseason a game for the Raiders and caught a touchdown pass in a win over the Green Bay Packers.

When the XFL draft was held in October of 2019, Pierson-El was selected by the St. Louis BattleHawks. In the 5 games they had, he had 23 catches for 209 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Pierson-El was one of many offensive weapons for the BattleHawks and has been a consistently productive receiver wherever he has had a chance to play.

Like many other former XFL players currently on an NFL practice squad, hopefully, he will get a chance to make an impact if he can find a spot on the main roster.
