Battlehawks Release Six Players, Trimming Roster

The past weekend was extremely busy for the St. Louis Battlehawks. After several members of the team came up to St. Louis, Six members of the team saw their journey with the XFL come to end for now. The Battlehawks cut six players this week, three from the alumni academy and three from the supplemental and November draft.

On Offense the Battlehawks released Darius Bradwell (RB), Tison Gray (OL), and Bryce Nunnelly (WR). Most notably was the release of Bradwell, a former NFL running back who came to the Battlehawks with the NFL experience playing in four games between 2020-2021.

Bradwell was the 82nd overall pick in the XFL Supplemental Draft however, failed to beat out AA selectee Kareem Walker, along with the Battlehawks other running backs Leddie Brown, Abdul Adams, Brian Hill, and Mateo Durant.

The Battlehawks also released Tison Gray an offensive lineman who despite Jon Toth not showing up to camp, couldn’t beat out late additions Mike Panasiuk, and AA Selectee Jovaun Woolford. Gray came to Battlehawks with limited experience and seemed to be the odd man out. The Battlehawks also cut AA Selectee Bryce Nunnelly who spent 2022 in rookie mini-camp with the Kansas City Chiefs.

On the Defensive side of the ball the Battlehawks cut a trio of Defensive Backs. Tareke Lewis, Jakoby Pappillion, and Brendon White. Pappillion and White were AA selectees, while Lewis was selected with the 78th overall pick in the Defensive Back draft, of the November 2022 draft. Despite getting cut, Brendon White now joins the Massachusetts Pirates of the IFL per the IFL transaction wire.

The Battlehawks roster on XFL.com now has 67 players with two on their reserve list. As teams continue to trim rosters in preparation for opening kickoff expect more players to find themselves unemployed as training camp comes to an end. XFL rosters will need to be down to 50 for Week One, and the Battlehawks look to be active on the waiver wire moving forward. With many teams also releasing players it quite possible more players can be released and resigned throughout the XFL preseason.
