Battlehawks Add Two Defensive Backs Before Season Finale

With the playoffs on the line Coach Anthony Becht and DPP Dave Boller continue to retool their roster. The team released Chad Hansen and Daishawn Dixon, while bringing back DB Evan Fields, along with former Vegas Vipers DB Mister Harriel.

Fields was drafted by the Battlehawks in the XFL’s November Draft in the 16th round. After spending the majority of training camp with the team, Fields was released on February 2nd. Harriel was originally with the Vegas Vipers at the beginning of the XFL season. The former Sacramento State Alum, played in three games starting one, totaling 12 tackles for the Vipers. Harriel would be released in March, and would find his way to the IFL to play with the Vegas Knight Hawks.

In a corresponding move the Battlehawks released Chad Hansen and Daishawn Dixon. Hansen is a five year NFL veteran whose spent part of the season with the DC Defenders in addition to his time with the Battlehawks. Hansen was active for the first-time last week for St. Louis mainly playing on Special Teams. Daishawn Dixon the Texas Native, has not appeared in any games for the Battlehawks this season, but was claimed off waivers by the Vegas Vipers. Dixon is also a veteran of the USFL playing with the Michigan Panthers last season.

For the Battlehawks, the move to bring in two defensive backs is due the team currently listing four Defensive Backs on the injury report. Notable players like Nate Meadors (ankle), Chris Cooper (Hamstring), Jon Alexander (Shoulder), and Tim Harris (Groin) were all listed as limited or non-participants after Tuesday’s practice. Their status for Saturday’s game against the Guardians is unknown at this time.
