Arlington Renegades Transactions: Two Players Signed, Two Moved to Reserve List

The Arlington Renegades make some more roster moves to get the roster number to 70 as they make multiple moves.

Their first signings of training camp come with the team adding defensive backs Rannell Hall and Nasir Greer to the roster. The transactions were first reported by the Twitter page XFL Analyst on Monday. Arlington Renegades also placed tight end Dominick Wood-Anderson and wide receiver Kameron Brown on the reserve list.

These are not the first roster transactions for the team though as the league cut roster sizes down to 70 last week. The moves with Wood-Anderson and Brown come as no surprise as the team has seen heavy depth at the receiver, tight end, and defensive back positions. Those will be the positions with the most attention as they have the most position battles going on.

Arlington Renegades’ Newest Additions

Rannell Hall, Defensive Back

Rannell Hall is no stranger to spring football as he has been playing professional football since 2015. Hall’s NFL experience includes playing for the Buccaneers, Browns, and Falcons between 2015 and 2017. He joined the Orlando Apollos of the AAF in 2019 where he played receiver catching 20 passes for 258 yards and one touchdown in eight games. The same year he played for the Massachusetts Pirates arena football team and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL.

His prior XFL experience comes when he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Vipers in the XFL Draft in 2020. He only played for two games before being put on injured reserve prior to week three of the season. Hall was known for playing on special teams as a return specialist returning six kickoffs for 127 yards with a long of 34 yards.

The latest stop for Hall was in the USFL last year where he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Bandits in the seventh round of the USFL Draft. Injuries once again kept Hall from playing the whole season as he missed a short time with a thigh injury but saw more time on defense. He recorded 19 total tackles during the 2022 season. Hall was recently cut from the Memphis Showboats roster.

Nasir Greer, Defensive Back

Nasir Greer played his college ball at Wake Forest where he finished his 33-game career with 141 total tackles and five forced fumbles. Greer received multiple second-team and third-team All-ACC choices for a variety of different publications between 2019 and 2021. He would go undrafted in this past year’s NFL Draft where he would sign with the Kansas City Chiefs. The team would waive Greer in late August before the NFL season was underway.

According to NFL Draft Buzz, Greer’s biggest strength comes with playing man/press coverage. He proved his speed by running at 4.43 40-yard dash. His coverage skills are a big plus for him as well as his ability to stop the run.

Impact of Hall and Greer on Arlington Renegades

Signing Hall means the team could have plans for him to make an impact on special teams as well as potentially on defense. He’s proven to be a good tackler on defense which could help get him in the rotation. The biggest notation to make is his ability on special teams as a returner. This means he might be competing with Joe Powell for the top returner spot or they could split the time into kickoffs and punt returns.

Greer has an upside for what he can do in coverage. He needs some development but has shown the ability to potentially fit into a nickel corner role for Arlington. If he can improve on his tackling, he might be able to fit his way into a roster spot. It’ll be an uphill battle though with him and Hall being that the secondary has a lot of wiggle room for more cuts to be made.
