All XFL Trademarks Now Officially Belong To Alpha Opco

We reported on August 21st that the sale of the XFL was finalized to Alpha Acquico. The group that is made up of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Gerry Cardinale of RedBird Capital was the only bidder on August 3rd and won the sale.

On September 14th, everything became officially theirs, including property, contracts, leases, and the employees that were still there. Among those items, were the trademarks for the XFL, including every team, as well as the name of the company that filed for bankruptcy, Alpha Entertainment.

It takes up to a month for the trademarks to officially change hands if they’re signed over, like what happens in a bankruptcy, or a sale. The US Patent and Trademark Office has since updated these marks to reflect the new owners, a subsidiary of Alpha Acquico named Alpha Opco.

Othe trademarks associated with the XFL including “For the H”, and “For the Love of Football” have also been transferred to the new ownership.

We’ve seen a lot of changes over the past few weeks. The website has been updated, the Twitter account’s handle has been changed to reflect the next season that we will see the league on the field, and now the trademarks.

The bankruptcy case is still ongoing, but it’s all about wrapping everything up. Not a lot is left for the new owners to take into possession. But you can rely on us to let you know when any of that changes.

For the Love of Football.

Does that include the IP and team names from XFL 1.0? Rage, Maniax, Demons, Bolts, Hitmen, Outlaws, Enforcers, Xtreme?

Bring back those names too. That would be cool.

Maybe we can get new merch now, or at least restock the old stuff
