XFL News Hub has obtained a memo from a source close to the USFL that includes some player information about the upcoming 2022 season. The memo includes details on roster sizes, win bonuses and when training camps begin.
Highlights from the memo;
- USFL will launch in April of 2022
- Training camps for the 2022 season will begin on Monday, March 21st
- Players will be employed directly by the USFL
- Eight teams will take part in a ten-week regular season that concludes on Sunday, June 19th followed by two weeks of playoffs
- Players will be employees of the USFL and receive base compensation as well as be eligible for win bonuses
- Each team will carry a 38-man active roster and 7-man practice squad
- To be eligible to sign with the USFL, an individual must have graduated from high school in 2020 or an earlier year
- A player selection meeting will be held February 22-23, 2022
Some other items to note.
There will be NO OPEN TRYOUTS. I confirmed with multiple sources that there was never a plan to hold open tryouts. The USFL will be reaching out to the players they are interested in via their agents or will be reaching directly to the player they are interested in. The USFL tryouts are through groups like GRIND Camps.
How the ‘player selection meeting‘ is being covered via a TV show or online is to be determined.
Based on the timeline, it looks like we could get USFL coaching announcements real soon.
Exciting times ahead for the USFL. All games of the 2022 USFL season will air on Fox, NBC, or their affiliates.

I just don’t understand why they won’t have any kind of tryouts. I mean at least have some kind of training camp for people to try to audition. There are a lot of diamond in the rough players from NAIA, JUCO, D3, or even Semi-Pro that will never get a chance to shine this way

They don’t time for that and have already basically done that via TSL 2020 & 2021. The better players from TSL 2021, those XFL (even AAF) players that have been getting bites in NFL and stayed in shape will be their 1st set of invites and with a smaller roster size it will fill up. There will be plenty of players looking to get in USFL. And don’t forget CFL players.

If you don’t have an agent then you have no future as a player in any league. If you had an agent they already would have lined up your interview.
