15 USFL Skill Position Players: Part Three – Most Experienced

With the USFL season kicking off in Spring of 2022, it’s a good time to start looking at some players who could end up in the league. I have compiled a list of fifteen individuals from three offensive positions (RB, WR, TE), and divided those fifteen into three different categories.

The last category we’ll be looking at is “most experienced,” or players who will make the USFL more fun to watch based on their background. This is a mix of veterans and young stars, all of which should be closely monitored for the rest of their career.

Adam Choice, RB, Clemson

Despite playing at a great ACC program, Choice isn’t a name that most can recall. He was used in a reserve role during his college days, recording just over 1,000 rushing yards through three seasons (2016-2018). In 2019, he was signed by the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent, but was injured before he could compete for a roster spot. Since then, Choice has been a part of The Spring League, and is still looking for a chance to develop further at age 26. Choice doesn’t have a lot to show in terms of on-field action (atleast compared to others on this list), but spent enough time in a Power 5 offense to be considered pro-worthy.

CJ Marable, RB, Coastal Carolina

Marable was one of the best offensive weapons at Coastal Carolina in 2020, accounting for 19 total touchdowns (12 rushing, 7 receiving). His junior campaign in 2019 was also equally exciting. Marable was signed by the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent this past offseason, but didn’t make the final cut. The USFL seems to be recruiting younger players, and with Marable only a year removed from college, is the exact type of candidate they’re looking for.

Additionally, Marable’s former team got national attention thanks to their success. The non-Power 5 Chanticleers went 11-1, were No. 14 in the AP poll, and qualified for the Sun Belt championship against Louisiana (canceled due to COVID-19 issues). If Marable can lead a USFL team to similar status, it would be a victory for everyone involved.

Reece Horn, WR, Indianapolis

Horn, a Division II product, has played in almost every football league out there. His journey has taken him overseas and back, with his most recent stop being at Cincinnati Bengals training camp. Horn is determined to keep his career going, and the USFL seems like the next best destination.

He can teach his teammates about finding opportunities in a variety of places, which is an important skill/mindset to have in the football world. There’s no reason to not give Horn a chance, and his impact can be felt in multiple aspects of the game.

Devin Wilson, WR, Tennessee State

Just like Horn, Wilson has been a part of many teams in many places. The 31-year-old is currently with the NAL’s Jacksonville Sharks, and has been one of the league’s best players since joining in 2017. While Wilson should be very pleased with where he is now, the USFL can give him the chance to play in front of a larger audience.

He could easily be the most talented player on this list, but he doesn’t get much attention from people who don’t know/follow him. Arena football tends to be fast-paced and high scoring, so if Wilson went to the USFL, he could bring that same energy and feeling of excitement.

Miller Forristall, TE, Alabama

Forristall played for the Alabama Crimson Tide, arguably the nation’s best college football program. During his time at the school, Forristall established himself as a threat in the redzone, especially as a junior (4 touchdowns on 15 catches). Despite dealing with some injuries, Forristall has plenty of potential, and the USFL is in a great position to unlock it.

Currently, he’s on the Cleveland Browns’ practice squad, and also spent time with the Tennessee Titans earlier this season. Assuming Forristall doesn’t get re-signed, the USFL shouldn’t hesitate to reach out to him. If they can secure that kind of talent, it would be a moment of truth for executives and the scouting department.
